Measurements of the shade sails are taken from the buckle to buckle along the nominal straight line of the sails. They are manufactured with a curved edge so that the tensioning can be applied evenly across the entire surface, if the sails were a square piece of fabric with no curved edges, there would be no way to apply even tension across the entire surface of the fabric. Please note the curvature will vary slightly between shapes and sizes.

Please be aware that our warranties DO NOT COVER incorrect installation practices, damage caused by storms, hailstones, mechanical damage, damage caused by birds or other animals, fire, lightening etc. This is not an exhaustive list and it is for reference only. The Outdoor Shop Australia P/L recommends that your shade sail be removed during times of severe weather warnings and that you insure you shade sail with your household insurance. It is also important to store your shade sail correctly away from rodents or other pests when not in use. Claims will not be processed if damage is due to the above.
Examples of incorrect installation are below -
Under tensioning the sail - allowing the sail to flap about in the wind is just as bad for the sail as over tensioning. Shade sails left to flap about will also lead to deterioration of the stitching. Over tensioning the sail from all or one corners - this leads to undue stress on webbing and stitching. The shade sail when installed correctly should have a smooth appearance, that is, not having the appearance of being pulled from one direction, this will lead to a wrinkled look and also damage the webbing and stitching.
We recommend that you take a photo of the sail once you have installed it. This is your record of installation. It is also recommended that you periodically check all fixing points and ensure they are nice and firm and the sail is kept nice and taught as constant movement of the sail could eventually damaged the corners and compromise the structure.
